HYDERABAD: City Police Commissioner CV Anand, on Wednesday, felicitated Tukaram Gate detective inspector A. Anjaneyulu, Market PS constable Rakesh, and four civilians for saving those trapped in the Ruby Pride Luxury Hotel fire in Secunderabad and presented them with cash rewards.
The officers and civilians entered the building before the firemen arrived, without any protective gear. Constable Rakesh was the first person to reach the scene after a fire broke out around 9 pm on Monday.
Inspector Anjaneyulu was soon joined by four civilians: Subash Chandrabose, Surya Kiran Kumar, Amar reddy, and Shiva Kumar.
Inspector Anjaneyulu, who was exposed to the toxic smoke and heat, said he received the shock of his life when he discovered one person lying in a long corridor on the second floor. As they passed the staircases, they came across a few more unconscious people. They saved them and shifted them on to the terrace.
These actions demonstrate the bravery and exemplary service of Hyderabad City police's finest and most kind-hearted citizens. They put their lives in danger to help the trapped citizens, said CV Anand, Commissioner of City Police.
"The extraordinary act of bravery, intelligently performed in the line of duty at personal risk to life, reflects the hallmark of true heroism," he said.
He offered his condolences to the bereaved families.
