Intermediate student attempts suicide at private college hostel

HYDERABAD: A second-year intermediate student at Sri Chaitanya Junior College in Hyderabad attempted suicide in her hostel room on Wednesday, alleging harassment by the college management.

The student, identified as Venu Sri from Nagarkurnool district, was found hanging in her room by fellow students, who then rushed her to a nearby hospital.

Venu Sri's parents, who arrived at the hospital, alleged that their daughter was driven to attempt suicide due to constant harassment from the college management. They demanded accountability from the college authorities. Her condition is said to be critical.

Following the incident, the student's relatives and friends staged a protest outside the college, demanding action against the management.
