IPL 2024 online cricket betting racket busted, four arrested in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: In a significant operation, the Special Operations Team (SOT) of LB Nagar Zone, in collaboration with the LB Nagar police, busted an online cricket betting racket linked to the ongoing IPL 2024 season.
The raid resulted in the seizure of Rs 20 lakh in cash, with an additional Rs 3.85 lakh frozen in a bank account. Four individuals were arrested, while four others remain at large.
The arrested suspects were identified as T Karthik Reddy of Hasthinapuram, K Abhishek Reddy of Karmanghat, Pathakota Yadagiri of Saroor Nagar, and Myaka Rajavardhan Reddy of Champapet.
Meanwhile, three others Praveen from Nagole, Chaitanya from Khammam, Manoj from Rajasthan, and Sandeep Reddy from Vijayawada - are absconding.
The arrests occurred when the SOT of LB Nagar Zone and the LB Nagar Law & Order police, acting on credible information, conducted a raid at a residence in RKR Colony, Hasthinapuram. The operation focused on the sub-bookie and three punters who were involved in online cricket betting through the LordsExch.com site, using the IPL 2024 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) as a cover for their activities.
A case has been registered under Sections 3 and 4 of the Telangana Gaming Act at the LB Nagar Police Station. Further investigations are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
