Lightning kills four labourers in Eluru district

YELLURU:A lightning strike took the toll of four lives in Eluru district of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday. The incident happened at Lingampalem of Bogolu mandal in the district. Several others also sustained serious injuries in the incident.

The four persons who died in the unfortunate incident were labourers working in a eucalyptus field. They, along with several other workers, were busy removing weed and the timber of these medicinal trees when they were struck by the thunderbolt. The four reportedly died on the spot.

The injured have been rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment. Eluru, along with several other districts of the state, has been receiving rains and thunderstorms. Occasional lightning has also been a common phenomenon.
