Lovers die by suicide after family opposition to marriage in Guntur

GUNTUR: A young couple died by suicide in Guntur district after the woman’s family opposed their love marriage.

The victims were identified as Danaboyina Mahesh (22) from Pedakakani village and Shailu (21) from Rudravanam in Nandigama mandal. The couple had been in a relationship for some time.

Mahesh’s family had reportedly agreed to their marriage, but Shailu’s family expressed objections. Unable to handle the situation, the couple left their homes during the Dussehra festival without informing their families.

On Friday, the couple was found dead near the railway tracks close to Pedakakani. Upon receiving information, the railway police arrived at the scene and, using details found on the deceased, notified their families. The police registered a case and are investigating the matter further.
