Man arrested for sexually assaulting 12-year-old daughter in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: In a shocking incident, a father, who should have been the protector of his child, turned into a predator.

A 36-year-old man from Odisha, residing in Hyderabad's Medipally, Sainagar Colony, and working as a labourer, was arrested for sexually assaulting his 12-year-old daughter.

The man, whose wife had left him, was living with his mother. His daughter, who was studying in a hostel, was brought home a few days ago due to illness. Taking advantage of the absence of his mother, the man, in a drunken state, assaulted his daughter in the middle of the night.

The heinous act came to light when the local residents, upon learning about the incident, informed the police. The accused was promptly taken into custody, and a case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He has been remanded to judicial custody.
