SURYAPET: A tipper driver from Suryapet district attempted suicide, alleging police brutality over a theft accusation.

The incident occurred in Aakaram village of Shaligouraram mandal, where the driver, identified as Seniga Nagaraju, had been working at the Balaji Crusher Mill in Thonda village. Nagaraju tried to hang himself after being accused of diesel theft, a charge that he denied and claimed led to immense emotional distress.

Local residents, who discovered Nagaraju in a critical condition, acted swiftly and rushed him to a hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.

In a video recorded by Nagaraju, he alleged that he could not withstand the beatings by the police. He claimed that Thirumalagiri SI Suresh assaulted him under orders from Tungaturthi MLA Sameer, who wrongly accused him of the diesel theft. Nagaraju, who had been working for Venkat at the crusher site, said he could no longer bear the pressure and mistreatment, which drove him to attempt suicide.

Following the incident, local residents have called on the District SP and the DGP to take legal action against those responsible, regardless of their position. They demanded justice for Nagaraju, urging accountability for both the officers and the officials involved.
