Man attempts suicide alleging assault by SI during counselling session

JAGTIAL: A man attempted suicide by pouring petrol on himself following an alleged assault by a sub-inspector during a counselling session related to family issues.

The victim, Shiva Prasad, took the extreme step on September 23. According to his sister, the incident took place at the Koratla police station in Jagtial district, where the police had summoned him for counselling on September 22 after his wife, Kavitha, filed a complaint against him on September 19.

Shivaprasad's sister alleged that Sub-Inspector Swetha physically assaulted her brother during the counselling session, leading to his severe distress. The following day, in an apparent response to the alleged incident, Shivaprasad attempted to end his life by setting himself on fire.

The police are currently investigating the allegations and have yet to make a formal statement regarding the incident.
