MEDAK: Medak police have arrested an inter-state gang involved in a series of temple thefts across the district.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Uday Kumar Reddy disclosed the details to the media, revealing that the gang was responsible for four thefts last month in the temples of Nagireddy Peta, Haveli Ghanpur, Chinna Shankarampet, and Chegunta.

The investigation into the thefts was intensified, and police apprehended the suspects near Gavvalapalli in Chinna Shankarampet Mandal during a vehicle check. The suspects attempted to flee in a Tata Manza car but were quickly detained by the police.

The arrested gang members have been identified as Aslam, Sheikh Ilyas, and Sheikh Sameer. All are from Nanded, Maharashtra, and have criminal histories. SP Reddy confirmed that the police recovered three mobile phones, one car, and gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 5.5 lakh from the gang.

A case has been registered against the suspects, and further investigations are underway. SP Uday Kumar Reddy commended the police personnel for their swift action in apprehending the robbers and recovering the stolen items.
