Mentally challenged minor molested in Andhra

HYDERABAD: A mentally challenged girl, from Annamma Special School, was allegedly raped in Vijayawada. A case was registered by the 'Disha' police against the school administrator's husband. A probe is launched into the management of the school for the deaf & dumb. Members of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and officials from the State's Child Welfare Committee visited the school on Thursday for further inquiry.

The investigation brought out that the school's management was not caring for the well-being of the children. There are charges that mentally challenged students were brutally assaulted by other students.

Vijayawada ACP Hanumanth Rao, who has been appointed to oversee the investigation, said that students of the special school had been shifted to another rehabilitation center in the state and further investigation was going on.
