MULUG: Forest department officers were attacked and severely injured by miscreants in Mulugu district on Friday.

The incident occurred in the Tadvai forest range when officials were investigating reports of illegal tree felling in the Damravai forest area.

A team led by Forest Section Officer (FSO) Vinod and Forest Beat Officers (FBO) Sharath Chandra and Suman arrived at the scene and seized a JCB being used for the illegal felling. While transporting the JCB to the Tadvai forest office, the owner of the JCB, identified as Ganta Suraj Reddy (Gunnu), along with two others, ambushed the officers near Tadvai. They attacked the officers with iron rods, destroyed the lights of the department's vehicle, and forcibly took the JCB.

FSO Vinod and FBO Sharath Chandra sustained severe injuries in the attack. The police have registered a case and begun investigating the incident. Further details are awaited.
