NIA conducts raids in Telugu states over terror activities amid protests
NIA has begun conducting searches at various locations in two Telugu states, especially in Nizamabad, Kurnool, Guntur, and Nellore districts over the alleged terror activities
HYDERABAD: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has begun conducting searches at various locations in six districts two Telugu states, especially in Nizamabad, Nirmal, Kurnool, Guntur, Kadapa and Nellore districts over the alleged terror activities. The searches are continuing even on Sunday.
The NIA deployed large forces to carry out these raids. As many as 23 teams each in Nizamabad, Kurnool, and Kadapa and two teams in Guntur district and another in Nellore respectively are carrying out the searches.
These raids are underway at the residences of Popular Front of India convenor Shadullah, Mohammad Imran, and Mohammad Abdul Mobin who were already booked under sedition cases.
The police claim that the arrested were conducting physical training activities to create communal violence in the guise of legal awareness programs.
The NIA sleuths are investigating whether the arrested were involved in the Bhainsa communal violence in Nizamabad.
While in Nandyal district, the NIA officials who conducted raids at PFI activist Yunus Ahmed's house took him into custody and shifted him to two town police station in Nandyal for questioning. Meanwhile, Popular Front of India leaders and activists reached Younis Ahmed's residence in large numbers and raised slogans against the NIA officials.
