HYDERABAD: A painting contractor was murdered over unpaid wages in the Gachbowli police limits.

The victim, Rajkumar (44) from Uttar Pradesh, had come to the city with six workers and was residing in Vattenagulapally. He had taken up building painting contracts but withheld wages from the workers, leading to ongoing disputes.

On Tuesday night, the group consumed alcohol together, and another argument over wages ensued. At around 11 PM, they went to sleep. After midnight, one of the workers struck Rajkumar on the head with an iron rod, killing him. On Wednesday, workers from Rajasthan, who lived behind the house, discovered Rajkumar's body and informed the owner, Gabbar Singh. He filed a complaint, and the police transported the body to Osmania Hospital mortuary for post-mortem and registered a case.

Six workers have been reportedly taken into custody, and Ramsingh was identified as the main suspect. The remaining workers are being questioned.
