Police unearth more issues related to CI Nageshwar Rao

HYDERABAD: The police investigation has revealed that Maredpally suspended CI Nageshwar Rao, who is accused of rape, kidnapping and attempt to murder a woman and her husband, is suspected to have involved in money and asset settlement, narcotics, betting and multiple other crimes.

The police also suspect that Nageshwar tried to bribe the woman and her husband to withdraw the case.

The suspended inspector, who was working in the police for eight years, is suspected to have illegal assets of Rs.200 crores. According to sources, he, along with other officials from the department, had been illegally seizing assets of people.

Nageshwar Rao, who was missing for three days after a woman filed a rape case against him, surrendered to the SOT police on Sunday. He said that he would cooperate with the police and asked for an impartial investigation. He was taken for the trial on Monday and would be sent to remand.
