HYDERABAD: In a tragic incident, a woman committed suicide due to financial difficulties and the inability to pay her children's college fees. Unable to bear his mother's death, her elder son also took his own life. This heartbreaking event occurred on Wednesday within the Chaitanyapuri Police Station limits in Hyderabad.
According to police details, Gunji Shiva (42) from Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, had moved to the city with his wife and two children a few years ago. They resided in SLR Colony, Kothapet. Shiva passed away a few months ago due to illness.
Since then, the family's financial burden fell on Shiva's wife, Padma (38). Their elder son, Gunji Vamshi (18), had completed his intermediate education, while their younger son (16) was in the first year of intermediate. The death of her husband, coupled with financial difficulties and the inability to afford her children's education, led Padma to despair. On Wednesday, when no one was home, she hanged herself.
Vamshi, shocked by his mother's death, also hanged himself. Local residents noticed the situation and informed the police. The police have shifted their bodies to Osmania Hospital for post-mortem examination.
