Priest kills girlfriend, dumps body in manhole, files missing complaint in Shamshabad

HYDERABAD: A woman was killed in cold blood by a temple priest who happened to be her boyfriend in Shamshabad and her body was dumped in a manhole in Saroornagar on June 3, 2023. The incident, which happened in Sultanpalli and came to light on Friday, sent shockwaves in Shamshabad mandal. The police registered a case and arrested the accused Venkata Sai Krishna, the temple priest, after examining the CCTV footage.

According to reports, Sai Krishna was already married and is the father of a four-year-girl. The deceased was identified as Apasara, a resident of Saroornagar. She is said to be in an extra-marital relationship with Sai Krishna for several months. Apsara, however, had been exerting pressure on Sai Krishna to marry her. Against this backdrop, on June 3, Sai Krishna took Apsara to Sultanpalli in Shamshabad mandal in a car. After reaching there, heated arguments were exchanged by the duo over their marriage.

According to some reports, Sai Krishna first drugged her before smashing her head with a boulder. Later, he bundled her body in a bag and dumped it in a manhole in Saroornagar. As part of his plan to escape from the incident, the accused lodged a complaint on June 5 with the Shamshabad police, stating that his relative Apsara was missing since June 3. Based on his complaint, the police launched a probe and examined the CCTV footage before verifying the mobile phone signals of Sai Krishna. The police investigation revealed that Sai Krishna was the accused in the case and arrested him. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway, the police said.
