Private teacher gets 10-yr jail for molesting minor boy in Hyderabad
The accused had previously committed two similar offences against minors
HYDERABAD: A private teacher in Hyderabad was sentenced to 10 years in prison for molesting a minor boy. According to police, Ravindran Prakash Nayar, a 49-year-old private teacher, was molesting a 15-year-old boy on his way to tuition.
On June 2, 2018, the victim's father lodged a complaint with the Saroornagar police, stating that Ravindran Prakash had sexually harassed his son. According to reports, the accused, who has a habit of watching porn on his smartphone, took advantage of the victim's vulnerability. Prakash took the minor boy to his house and sexually assaulted the victim before threatening him with serious consequences if he told anyone about the incident.
The accused had previously committed two similar offences against the minors. Based on the above complaint, a case under POCSO Act was registered at Saroornagar police station. Inspector N Ch Ranga Swamy of Saroornagar gathered evidence and arrested the accused who was later remanded in judicial custody. A chargesheet was filed in a court after the completion of the investigation.
Delivering the verdict in the case, POCSO Court (LB Nagar) Judge Harisha sentenced the accused Ravindran Prakash Nayar to 10 years imprisonment and fined him Rs 45,000.
