Secunderabad’s Metropolis Hotel seized amid investigation into temple vandalism
Secunderabad’s Metropolis Hotel was seized by authorities after a suspect linked to a temple vandalism case was found staying there.
HYDERABAD: The authorities seized Secunderabad’s well-known Metropolis Hotel following a police investigation into a temple vandalism incident. The police evacuated hotel customers and thoroughly searched the premises before sealing it.
The seizure is linked to a recent incident at the Muthyalamma Temple, where a person vandalised the deity’s statue during the late hours of the night. The act sparked widespread outrage among religious groups and political parties. As the investigation unfolded, police discovered a significant lead: the suspect had stayed at the Metropolis Hotel.
Despite the ongoing situation, hotel staff reportedly failed to inform the authorities about the suspect’s stay, leading to the cancellation of the hotel's licence by the Revenue and Police departments. Following this, police began a detailed investigation at the hotel, inspecting CCTV footage and questioning the staff.
Authorities are looking into whether the suspect had any accomplices he met during his stay and whether there were any links between the hotel staff and the accused. They are also investigating how long the suspect stayed at the hotel and where he came from.
