Senior IPS officers suspended in Andhra Pradesh over Kadambari Jethwani harassment case
The suspension followed multiple allegations, including the mistreatment of the Bollywood actress.
HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh government suspended three senior IPS officers over multiple allegations, including their involvement in a case related to Bollywood actress and model Kadambari Jethwani.
The suspended officers included former Intelligence Chief PSR Anjaneyulu, former Vijayawada Commissioner of Police Kanti Rana Tata, and IPS officer Vishal Gunni.
The government issued the suspension orders following an inquiry into several allegations, one of which concerned the alleged police harassment of Jethwani and her family. The case against the actress was initially filed by YSRC leader Kukkala Vidyasagar, who accused her of cheating him in a land deal. However, Jethwani later lodged a complaint, claiming the case was false and filed under pressure from higher-ranking police officials.
In addition to the suspension of the three IPS officers, DGP Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao suspended two more police officers - former ACP West K Hanumantha Rao and former Ibrahimpatnam inspector M Satyanarayana. An internal inquiry revealed that the Ibrahimpatnam police violated standard protocols during the arrest of Jethwani and her family members. ACP K Sravanthi Roy, appointed as a special officer to investigate the case, reportedly confirmed in her report that there was no evidence to support the charges filed against the actress.
