SI, constables suspended for extorting money from a man in the name of filing rape cases

MARKAPUR: The Markapur sub-Inspector along with two constables were suspended from duties for allegedly extorting Rs. 2.60 lakh from a man by threatening him of filing a case under the POCSO Act.

According to information, the victim is said to have allegedly been involved in an assault case. Taking advantage of it, Markapur Town SI Sasi Kumar through his constables threatened the victim and collected Rs. 2.60 lakh.

However, despite taking money, the victim was sent to remand who later lodged a complained with DSP Veera Raghava Reddy after being released on bail.

The DSP conducted the investigation and handed over the report to SP Mallika Garg. The SP upon considering the report gave orders suspending SI Sasi Kumar and other constables from duties.
