GUNTUR: Nallapadu police of Guntur have arrested six persons accused of committing thefts in broad daylight in the district and seized gold and silver jewellery worth Rs. 30 lakh from their possession.
According to the details revealed by Guntur Superintendent of Police Arif Hafeez, the six accused persons hailing from West Bengal were resorting to thefts after conducting recce in the day time, posing themselves as scrap collectors. The accused would escape to West Bengal on a train after looting the houses.
The SP said that there were cases against the accused in West Bengal and various police stations in Andhra Pradesh. He said they formed special teams and detained them in West Bengal.
Responding to the rape incident in Vengalayapalem of Guntur district where a minor was raped, the SP said the police were investigating the case and arrested the accused in the case.
