Six killed on Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway after a car hits stationary lorry
Six people were killed after a car hit a stationary lorry on Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway near Kodad town on Thursday
HYDERABAD: As many as six people, including a child, were killed after a car collided with a stationary lorry on Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway near Srirangapuram in Kodada town in the early hours of Thursday.
According to information, a car carrying 10 people hit a lorry from behind on the way from Hyderabad to Vijayawada. However, as the vehicle reached Kodada town, it hit the lorry that was halted due to a breakdown leaving six dead and two injured. While three children were safe, another woman was in critical condition. The injured were rushed to hospital for treatment.
The deceased were identified as residents of L Govindapuram village in Bonakal mandal of Khammam district belonging to the same family. It is learned that the accident occurred as the car driver failed to notice the lorry in the night.
A similar incident was reported in the same area three days ago, where a young couple died after hitting a lorry in the wee hours.
