Software engineer dies by suicide after losing Rs 24 lakh in online betting

HYDERABAD: A 26-year-old software engineer died by suicide near the railway tracks at Madanapalle (CTM) railway station in Annamayya district after suffering heavy financial losses due to online betting.

The deceased has been identified as N. Padmanabha Reddy, a native of Diguvagaliguttapalle in Tamballapalle mandal.

Padmanabha Reddy, who was employed in Bengaluru, left behind a suicide note stating that he had lost Rs 24 lakh in online betting. The note further revealed that the financial burden from these losses drove him to take this extreme step.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. This tragic case highlights the growing issue of financial distress caused by online betting, especially among young professionals.
