Transformer theft gang apprehended in Nalgonda
Five individuals were arrested for stealing copper wire and oil from transformers in Nalgonda district, India. Police recovered Rs 9 lakh in cash, a car, and four mobile phones from the gang.
HYDERABAD: Nalgonda Police apprehended a gang responsible for damaging transformers and stealing copper wire and oil.
Nalgonda District Superintendent of Police, Sharat Chandra Pawar, addressed the media on Thursday, revealing details of the operation.
The gang, comprising five members - all residents of Yelmalamanda village in Chandampet mandal - were identified as Megavath Ranga Nayak, Jatavath Imam Nayak, Jatavath Moulana Nayak, Sheik Jatavath Vali Nayak, and Ketavath Sunil.
The gang would damage transformers, steal the copper wire and oil, and then transport the stolen goods to Hyderabad by car to avoid suspicion. They would then sell the stolen materials.
Acting on credible information, police apprehended the gang members at Vaddepalli. Authorities recovered Rs 9 lakh in cash, a car, and four mobile phones from the accused. A case has been registered against the accused, and an investigation is underway. The SP commended the police personnel for their swift action in apprehending the thieves.
