TTD files police complaint over adulteration of ghee used in Tirumala laddu preparation
TTD alleges AR Dairy supplied adulterated ghee for laddu preparation, requests action from police.
AMARAVATI: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) lodged a police complaint on Wednesday against AR Dairy Food Products Limited, accusing the company of supplying adulterated ghee used in the preparation of the sacred Tirumala laddu.
The complaint was filed at the Tirupati East police station by TTD Procurement General Manager Murali Krishna.
According to the complaint, AR Dairy violated supply regulations by providing ghee adulterated with vegetable oil and animal fat. Orders for the supply were placed on 15th May this year, and the ghee was delivered on 12th, 20th, and 25th June, as well as 6th and 12th July, across four tankers. TTD, with the support of NDDB (National Dairy Development Board), conducted tests on the ghee, which confirmed the presence of adulterants.
TTD had issued show-cause notices to AR Dairy on 22nd, 23rd, and 27th July, but the company responded on 4th September, denying any adulteration. However, based on the test results, TTD has requested legal action against AR Dairy for breaching the agreement and supplying contaminated ghee.
