AMARAVATI: Two schoolchildren were killed in two separate road accidents in Rajamahendravaram and Jammalamadugu of Andhra Pradesh on Monday.
A seven-year-old boy was killed after the two-wheeler on which he was travelling was hit by an APSRTC bus near Vaddera Colony in Dowleswaram of Rajamahendravaram in East Godavari district. According to reports, the deceased was identified as Eswar. The tragic incident occurred when Eswar’s father was taking him to school on his two-wheeler. The RTC bus, belonging to Ravulapalem depot, hit the two-wheeler and then ran over the boy. Eswar died on the spot while his father sustained injuries in the incident.
Enraged by the incident, Eswar’s relatives and the people in the vicinity vandalised the bus. They staged a spontaneous sit-in on the road, demanding justice for the family. The police later persuaded the agitators to withdraw their protest and restored normalcy. A case has been registered and investigation is going on into the incident.
In the other incident, a four-year-old girl was killed on the spot after she accidentally fell from the bus belonging to Viswa Shanti School in Jammalamadugu of YSR Kadapa district. The deceased was identified as Jeena. A case was registered. Full details of the mishap are yet to be known.
