NALGONDA: Two young women studying their graduation died by suicide at Rajeev Park in Nalgonda town by consuming pesticide.
The two students identified as Dontaraboina Shivani from Nakkalapalli and Anugutala Manisha of Ammanabolu village had been friends from Intermediate and were pursuing their degree. However, the duo on Tuesday had informed their families that they were going to college and went to Rajeev Park. They consumed pesticide there and fell unconscious near the park gate.
The locals noticed them and immediately escalated the matter to the police who rushed the students to Nalgonda District Central Hospital, where the victims were pronounced dead while undergoing treatment.
However, when the police questioned about the reason for their suicide attempt, Shivani and Manisha, before succumbing, claimed that they had been threatened on Instagram with morphed photographs. However, the police examined their phones and found no evidence of harassment on the social media platform. It is learned that there was no other call history except the conversation between the duo.
Meanwhile, the victims’ parents have filed complaints with the Nalgonda Two Town Police saying that they did't have any ideas over the reasons behind their daughters' suicides. The police, who suspected that the pesticide used were obtained in Narkatpally, found sleeping pills in the students' bag and asserted that the duo might have taken such extreme steps due to strong emotional bonding between them.
Further details are awaited.
