HYDERABAD: Vattepalli Sub-Inspector (SI) Laxman was transferred after hosting a birthday celebration for a Congress leader inside the police station.
Senior officials took serious note of the incident, as police officers are expected to maintain neutrality and uphold the law. Hyderabad Range Inspector General (IG) Satyanarayana ordered the SI’s transfer to the Vacancy Reserve (VR) and initiated an inquiry into the role of other staff involved.
The incident occurred in Sangareddy district when the Congress Mandal President, Prathap Ramesh Joshi, celebrated his birthday on Sunday at the Vattepalli police station. SI Laxman, along with other constables, joined the celebration and even cut the cake, sparking public outrage.
The event, held within the police station premises, led to widespread criticism. The public expressed concerns over law enforcement's involvement in a political leader’s personal celebration, questioning the police's impartiality.
