Woman burnt alive over witchcraft allegations in Medak district
A woman was set ablaze by villagers in Ramayampet, Medak, over alleged witchcraft
MEDAK: A woman was burnt alive by villagers over allegations of practising witchcraft in Ramayampet of Medak district. The incident occurred on Thursday night in Katriyal village when villagers attacked Dyagala Muttavva, a local resident, while she was at her home.
According to reports, the villagers accused Muttavva of practising witchcraft. They poured petrol over her and set her on fire. Hearing her screams, some local residents rushed to her aid and attempted to rescue her. Upon receiving information, the police arrived at the scene and immediately transported the severely injured woman to a hospital.
Muttavva was being taken to a hospital in Hyderabad for better treatment but succumbed to her injuries on the way. Following her death, the police took her body to the Ramayampet hospital for further formalities.
It was also reported that, out of fear, the victim's son and daughter-in-law fled the village following the attack. The police have registered a case and taken three individuals into custody in connection with the incident.
The police have assured a thorough investigation and stringent action against those involved in the crime.
