Woman kills 2 kids, attempts suicide over petty quarrel with husband in Meerpet

HYDERABAD: In a shocking incident a woman killed her two children and attempted suicide by consuming poison on Sunday following a petty quarrel with her husband and mother-in-law under the Meerpet police station limits of Ranga Reddy district. The condition of the woman, who was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital (OGH), is stated to be critical.

According to the Meerpet police, 25-year-old Nenavath Bharathi, a native of Lalitha Nagar in Jillelaguda of Meerpet, was married to Srinivas in 2020. The couple were blessed with two sons, Nenavath Vicky, aged one year and five months and eight-month old Lucky. Bharathi had been having quarrels with Srinivas and his mother, who came to their house on Saturday morning, over some petty issues. On Sunday morning, Bharathi’s parents also arrived to settle the dispute but the couple ended up quarrelling again in front of them as well.

When Srinivas went out, Bharathi, in what appears to be a spur-of-the-moment act, drowned her two sons in a tub before consuming poison. Later, she called up her husband and told him about what she did. After rushing home, Srinivas took his sons to Paramita Hospital in Kothapet where the doctors declared the two boys as ‘brought dead’. Bharathi was, on the other hand, admitted to OGH where her condition is stated to be critical.

A case of murder and suicide attempt has been registered and the investigation is going on.
