Young farmer attempts suicide over land acquisition for school in Sirgapur
A farmer in Sirgapur climbed an electric pole, protesting land acquisition for a school, before being rescued.
HYDERABAD: A young farmer from Wasara Vaalu thanda in Sirgapoor mandal of Sangareddy district caused a stir by climbing an electric pole in protest against the government’s decision to reclaim land for an integrated school project.
The 25 acres of land had previously been allocated to tribal families, but local authorities are now seeking to acquire it for the school, leading to distress among the farmers.
The farmer, identified as Raju, expressed his anguish, saying, "My land is being taken away. How will I survive?" Overcome with despair, he attempted suicide by climbing the pole, but was rescued by locals who intervened just in time.
