JANGAON: A young farmer from Kanneboinagudem village in Narmeta Mandal, Jangaon district, ended his life due to mounting debts. The incident occurred on Thursday.

The deceased, identified as 29-year-old Thodeti Sambraju, had converted his 3.5 acres of land for agricultural purposes. Despite drilling three borewells, only one yielded a minimal amount of water. The expenses incurred for the borewells and other agricultural investments amounted to approximately Rs 10 lakh.

Unable to find a way to repay the substantial debt, Sambraju consumed pesticide on July 16. He was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment but unfortunately succumbed to the poison.

Police have registered a case and further investigation are ongoing.
