HYDERABAD: In a distressing incident from Choutuppal, Yadadri district, a sixth-grade girl reportedly hid at school to escape her abusive father.

The child, originally from Hyderabad’s Babanagar, moved to Choutuppal with her family, including her father Akbar, mother, and younger brother. Following family disputes, her mother recently left the home, taking the younger son with her. Since then, Akbar has allegedly directed his anger towards his daughter, subjecting her to physical abuse.

On Wednesday night, the girl was reportedly beaten by her father, leaving her afraid to return home the next day. Although she missed school in the morning, she arrived later, confiding in her friends about the abuse and her hunger, having had nothing to eat since the previous night. Concerned classmates informed a teacher, who provided her with food and comfort.

The situation escalated when her father arrived at the school intoxicated, prompting the frightened child to hide in a nearby building. School staff intervened as the father became confrontational, eventually escorting him off the premises. Authorities, alerted by the Mandal Education Officer (MEO), took the girl to a local police station, and she was later moved to a child shelter for her safety.
