HYDERABAD: WiSig Networks Private Limited, a pioneering wireless networks technology start-up founded at IIT-Hyderabad's business incubator in 2016, with an extensive portfolio of 5G patents, including Standard Essential Patents (SEPs), announced its commitment to foster innovation and global 5G adoption on Wednesday.

The company intends to license its valuable patents on a Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory (FRAND) basis to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in India as well as worldwide.

With the rapid evolution of wireless technologies and the transformative potential of 5G, WiSig Networks acknowledges the importance of collaborative efforts to ensure seamless integration and utilization of these innovations across industries. By licensing its 5G patents on FRAND terms, the company seeks to promote a level playing field, enabling OEMs to create cutting-edge products without undue burden while respecting intellectual property rights.

"Our mission is to accelerate the advancement of 5G technology and support OEMs in their journey towards delivering innovative, high-quality networks, devices and solutions to consumers worldwide. We firmly believe in the principles of fairness, reasonableness, and non-discrimination. By licensing our 5G patents on FRAND terms, we are striving to foster an ecosystem where technology companies can collaborate, compete, and thrive, " said Dr Kiran Kuchi, Founder at WiSig Networks.

The extensive portfolio of 5G patents held by WiSig Networks encompasses Standard Essential Patents, which are fundamental to the implementation of 5G technology. These patents have been meticulously developed through significant research and development efforts, making them essential for the seamless functioning of 5G networks.

Through its FRAND licensing approach, WiSig Networks seeks to provide OEMs with the opportunity to leverage its 5G patents in their products and services without facing unreasonable barriers or exorbitant licensing fees. This commitment to fairness and openness aims to foster an environment that encourages innovation and widespread adoption of 5G technology.

In its pursuit of a collaborative 5G ecosystem, WiSig Networks invites OEMs to engage in constructive discussions to explore licensing opportunities. The company is committed to transparent and flexible licensing negotiations, ensuring that both parties can benefit from the agreement while advancing the global 5G landscape.

WiSig Networks is committed to driving innovation and to contribute significantly to continue the build-up of its technology, products and patents portfolio in 5G-Advanced as well as IMT2030 or 6G areas, supporting the realization of the government of India’s 6G vision there-by bridging the gap between availability, accessibility, and affordability of e-services (health, education, banking, civic services, etc) and between economic opportunities in rural and urban India.

WiSig would continue to focus on IMT2030 goals such as ubiquitous communication, universal availability of ultra-fast, low-latency hyper connectivity, sustainability, as well as empowering industries to unlock the full potential of the sensor and connectivity driven applications like Internet of Things (IoT), autonomous vehicles, augmented reality, and much more.
