Jug Jugg Jeeyo: Another sigh of relief for Bollywood

Bollywood has been in deep trouble ever since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out. The theatres across North India were shut for more than one and a half years. In the meantime, people got used to watching films on OTT platforms.

When the theatres reopened, audiences didn't show any interest in getting into theatres. Big films like Runway 34, Jersey, Bachchan Pandey and Prithviraj turned out to be disasters at the box office. This year, only Gangubai Kathiawadi, The Kashmir Files and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 proved to be winners in the theatrical market.

Now, Jug Jugg Jeeyo has joined the list. This family drama was released last Friday and has been getting a positive response across the world. On the first day, it managed to collect Rs. 9.28 crores. It performed well on the weekend too and collected Rs. 12.55 crores on Saturday and Rs. 15.10 crores on Sunday.

On the whole, the film managed to earn a nett of Rs. 36.83 crores in the first three days. It is now the fourth highest first weekend grosser among Hindi films. It is expected to do well in the coming days as well. Directed by Raj Mehta, this film features Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor in the lead roles.
