'Biometric Boarding' at Vijayawada airport from March 2023

NEW DELHI: Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation VK Singh on Monday said that the biometric boarding system would be implemented by March next year at the Vijayawada (Gannavaram) airport as part of the Centre's Digi Yatra initiative.

Replying to a question from Vijayasai Reddy in the Rajya Sabha, the Minister of state said that all the work related to the setting up of the biometric boarding system at Gannavaram Airport had been completed. It is being implemented in a phased manner, he added.

Under the first phase of Digi Yatra, biometric boarding system will be made available at Gannavaram, Kolkata, Varanasi, Pune, Bengaluru, Delhi and Hyderabad airports by March next year, he said.
