HYDERABAD: The National Industrial Security Academy (NISA) has been awarded the prestigious Union Home Minister's Trophy for the "Best Police Training Institution for Training of Gazetted Officers for the Year 2020-21."

This extraordinary achievement for this Academy occurred during the tenure of the current Commissioner of Police Hyderabad, C.V.Anand, who was the Academy's former Director during the year under contention.

The CISF's National Industrial Security Academy is a premier national level central training institute that trains officers of the Central Industrial Security Force, sister organisations of CAPFs, state police organisations, foreign police organisations, civil servants, and officers of public sector undertakings in Industrial Security Management, Disaster Management, and Aviation Security.

The Ministry of Home Affairs conducts a national screening of various central police training institutes, and Bureau of Police Research and Development( BPR&D) conducts a survey to determine the best police training institution for the year.

All central and state government police training academies in the country are being considered in various categories. NISA was chosen as the best Training Institution for Officer Training for the 2020-21 year after a thorough screening on various parameters by a committee formed by BPR&D.

Due to the sensitive Dassehra and Milad-Un-Nabi bandobust in Hyderabad City, Hyderabad city police commissioner C.V. Anand was unable to attend the award function at BPR&D, Delhi. NISA DIG Srinivas Babu, recieved the Trophy, Citation, and from Home Minister's on Amit Shah's and presented them to C.V. Anand on Wednesday.

The screening for this award is based on various parameters such as the Academy's capacity to train, the variety of training, the upkeep and maintenance of infrastructure, websites and contents, trainees - trainer ratio, annual events, social responsibilities, training infrastructures, and so on. Competing with world-class police training academies in India was not an easy task, and it required real grit, innovation, and upkeep of the Academy with a dedicated team of officers.

CV Anand said that the Academy was committed to becoming a "centre of excellence" in both letter and spirit during his tenure. Several scientific methods were implemented in physical training, officer grooming, and morale and motivation maintenance.

"To ensure that officer trainees had access to the best training facilities possible, the training infrastructure was updated and equipment was modernised. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the officer trainees were exposed for the first time to horseback riding, rock climbing, and extensive jungle warfare tactics.
