Family disputes: Woman immolates self in MVP Colony police station in Vizag

VISAKHAPATNAM: A woman resorted to self-immolation in the MVP Police Station of Visakhapatnam while attending a couple counselling session on Thursday.

Reportedly, Sravani (30) got married to Vinay four months ago. The marriage went downhill with the couple fighting constantly. Sravani lodged a complaint at the MVP police station on Wednesday and they were called for counselling on Thursday.

The woman walked out of the room, talking on the phone, while Sub-Inspector Srinivas was counselling them and set herself ablaze with petrol. The police, who tried to save her, also suffered injuries. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment where she succumbed to the injuries. The police informed her family and also took Vinay into custody.
