Speaking about the recent communal unrest, CV Anand claimed that a few unwanted videos that were disseminated on social media by miscreants were to blame for these needless disruptions. As Hyderabad is known for its peace and harmony, he further cautioned people against sharing any such videos on social media in the future. After noticing the movement on Friday, he added that the city police authorities would work to restore normalcy by lifting the night curbs.
The Friday prayers ended peacefully in the old city, particularly at the Mecca Masjid, amid tight security measures. In order to prevent any unforeseen incidents, a number of task force and rapid action force units were stationed in the Old City. Additionally, plainclothesmen were tasked with searching for possible troublemakers.
The police tightened restrictions on movement in the Old City after protests on Tuesday against a now suspended BJP MLA's reported provocative remarks about the Prophet Muhammad.
