GHMC demolishes footpath encroachments, tension in Gachibowli

HYDERABAD: Tension prevailed in Gachibowli on Tuesday morning as officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) took on the activity of demolishing houses and huts constructed on footpaths.
Reportedly, residents of the huts were sent notices to vacate the place. However, they did not vacate the illegal huts. The demolition was carried out on January 24, as ordered by the court.
The GHMC officials demolished huts around GPRA quarters amid heavy police protection.
Over 50 establishments were taken down from the footpath with the help of JCB cranes.
