Man dies of starvation on Hyderabad outskirts

HYDERABAD: An unidentified person was found dead in Shankarpally of Rangareddy district, on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Saturday in what is believed to be a case of starvation death.

The police suspect that the person might not have eaten anything over the last five days and that he could have starved to death. The incident of a likely starvation death, happening in the 21st century, has sent shockwaves in the locality.

The local residents first noticed the lifeless body of the unidentified man at Lakshmireddygudda of Shankarpally. On being alerted, the police reached the spot and checked for clues to establish the nature and cause of death.

With no circumstantial evidence really available, the police presumed that the person might have been starving and that could have caused his death. A case has been registered.
