No notice served, not linked to fake CBI officer: Bonthu Rammohan
Bonthu Rammohan, former Mayor of Hyderabad, clarified that he did not receive any notice from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)
HYDERABAD: Bonthu Rammohan, former Mayor of Hyderabad, clarified on Thursday that he did not receive any notice from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He also denied having any links to Kovvireddy Srinivas Rao, who was arrested for impersonating as a CBI officer. The former mayor took exception to the campaign that he was also served a notice in connection with a betting scandal, which he sought to distance himself from.
Rammohan came up with the clarification following media reports which claimed that he was picked up from his residence and was being questioned in connection with his possible links to the fake CBI officer and a betting scandal. He denied having connections with Kovvireddy Srinivas, who was arrested for impersonating as a CBI official, and with his activities.
The ex-mayor claimed that Srinivas came in contact with him during one of the community gatherings. He also expressed his readiness to share any information with the investigating agencies, if he is called for questioning.
Rammohan also dismissed the allegation that he had his role in the betting scandal, involving YSRCP MLA from Nellore district Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy. He said that he did not know who Sridhar Reddy was. Taking the BJP-led NDA government to task, he said that the Centre had been targetting the TRS leaders as part of its politics of vengeance. The allegations being made against him were just part of this campaign, he remarked. The ex-mayor also expressed the hope that truth would prevail in due course of time.
