OU employee dies after snake bite in ladies' hostel, students protest

HYDERABAD: Students of the Osmania University (OU) staged a protest in front of the ladies' hostel of the University, on Thursday, after a female employee lost her life to a snake bite.
Reportedly, she was bitten by a snake recently, while she was cooking in the hostel.
The woman, Nagol Kavitha, sought help after she was bitten. However, neither the hospitals she went to nor her colleagues helped her. After a while of struggling and vomiting blood, she died while being taken to Gandhi Hospital. Staff and contractors hid the incident from coming into light.
According to sources, the OU ladies' hostel was surrounded by snake pits. In spite of multiple complaints to the contractors, there was no action taken.
The student union was protesting against this neglect by the contractors. They were also demanding a compensation of Rs 50 lakh and for a job to be provided to her family member.
