OU to confer honorary doctorate on CJI NV Ramana

HYDERABAD: The Osmania University (OU) will be conferring an honorary doctorate (honoris causa) on Chief Justice of India NV Ramana during its 82nd convocation ceremony scheduled to be held at the Tagore Auditorium on the varsity campus here on August 5.
It has been 21 years since an honorary degree was presented by the University. The last recipient of OU's honorary doctorate was Arun Netravali, former president of Bell Laboratories. Since its inception in 1917, OU has given out 47 doctorates to distinguished personalities from varied fields.
A total of 55 gold medals will be presented to the meritorious Ph.D. and postgraduate students. Undergraduate students will receive their gold medals in their respective colleges this year. Besides this, around 200 PhDs will be presented during the convocation, which will be graced by the Governor of Telangana and chancellor of OU Tamilisai Soundararajan.
OU Vice-Chancellor Prof. D Ravinder, will address the media in connection with the convocation on Thursday.
