Prince Mukarram Jah to be laid to rest in Makka Masjid amid state honours
Mukarram Jah’s body would arrive in the City on January 17 and it would be kept in Chowmahalla palace
HYDERABAD: The eighth Nizam Nawab Mir Barkat Ali Khan Mukarram Jah Bahadur, who breathed his last on January 14 in Turkey, will be laid to rest in Hyderabad’s Makka Masjid on January 18 after evening prayers. The State Government is making all necessary arrangements and also announced a State funeral for the last Nizam.
Mukarram Jah’s body would arrive in the City on January 17 and it would be kept in Chowmahalla palace for people to pay respects. Advisor to the Telangana Government A.K Khan confirmed this after consultations with the Nizam's family members and trustees.
A.K Khan and other government officials met Princess Esra Jah, the former wife of the 8th Nizam and other members of the Trust, including Faiz Khan and discussed the Nizam's last rituals.
He would be taken from the Palace to Makka Masjid and his body would be buried in the lawn, where other rulers of the Asaf Jahi dynasty were buried.
Prince Mukkaram, who was born on October 6 1933, lived in Australia and Turkey most of his life. However, he had a sentimental and emotional connection with Hyderabad and visited whenever possible.
