Super Star Ghattamaneni Krishna was cremated with full State honours at the Filmnagar Mahaprasthanam crematorium in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: Veteran Telugu film actor and Super Star Ghattamaneni Krishna was cremated with full State honours at the Filmnagar Mahaprasthanam crematorium in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The veteran actor breathed his last at Continental Hospital here in the early hours of Tuesday. Film personalities from Tollywood and Kollywood besides a host of politicians were among those who paid homage to the departed actor.
A team of the Hyderabad Police presented the guard of honour before Krishna's son and Tollywood Super Star Mahesh Babu completed the rituals late afternoon. The police team, after presenting a 21-gun salute, also fired three rounds in the air in a ceremonial farewell gesture. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), after paying his tributes to the veteran actor on Tuesday, announced that the funeral would be performed with full State honours.
Earlier, the mortal remains of Krishna were brought to the crematorium in a procession from Padmalaya Studies, accompanied by a long convoy of vehicles, fans and Telugu film industry folks. The senior actor's body was brought to Padmalaya Studios from his residence on Wednesday morning and kept there to allow his countless fans to have a last glimpse of their favourite star.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy was among those who paid tributes to Krishna on Wednesday at Padmalaya Studios.
