VISAKHAPATNAM: Tension triggered at GITAM Medical College in Visakhapatnam after the Revenue department officials under the supervision of Bhimili RDO and Visakhapatnam DRO took hold of the college grounds and initiated the demolition of illegal constructions around the college.
The authorities arrived with all the equipment for the demolitions while the police under the supervision of the DCP level officer deployed forces and set up barricades to stop the traffic to Endada and Rushikonda from 4 am. The police did not allow the media inside the medical college.
Meanwhile, the GITAM college management was enraged over the latest developments and said that they had no information on the demolitions. It is learned that the GITAM college management moved Court over demolitions in the past and now with officials once again initiating demolitions caused a stir, the management is taking to a legal recourse.
