Train coach turned into restaurant at Guntur Railway Station
This restaurant provides hygienic and high-quality food to rail commuters 24 hours a day.
HYDERABAD: In a first of its kind, South Central Railway (SCR) has conceptualised an innovative idea by opening a "coach restaurant" at Guntur Railway station. The Food Express restaurant, made of a unused rail sleeper coach, was inaugurated on the east side of Guntur Station on Monday.
The Guntur Division officials converted an unused sleeper carriage on rails and installed it in the station's circulation area with full AC and refurbished the interiors to suit the dining area's requirements. This restaurant offers a distinctive and enjoyable dining experience to both rail travellers and the general public.
Passengers can now enjoy a fine dining experience at this multi-cuisine food express, which serves clean, high-quality food priced according to local tariffs. For the convenience of travellers, these services will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
According to R. Mohanraja, DRM, Guntur, this innovative idea was conceptualised by Guntur Division to provide a premium experience to rail commuters by utilising old, unserviceable coaches, and this coach was redesigned to the needs of the restaurant by granting a licence to the entrepreneurs. This restaurant not only provides hygienic and high-quality food to rail commuters 24 hours a day, but it also generates revenue for the railways.
Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-Charge), SCR, commended the Guntur Division officials for using a sleeper coach to provide a pretty good passenger amenity at the Guntur railway station. He commended the officials for creating a nice atmosphere and interiors in the clean environment. Additionally, he stated that this coach restaurant would offer a variety of cuisines to train passengers at local prices while also providing them with a positive, memorable experience.
