YS Sharmila's protest foiled near Pragathi Bhavan, towed away
The police intended to take her into preventive detention for causing disruption to traffic and public life
HYDERABAD: Dramatic scenes were witnessed in the close vicinity of Pragathi Bhavan when the police foiled a protest by YSR Telangana party founder YS Sharmila on Tuesday. The YSRTP leader's car was towed away by the police even as she was inside the vehicle, as part of a preventive measure. YS Sharmila decided to protest at the Pragathi Bhavan to resent the attack on her convoy in Narsampet on Monday.
On Tuesday, near Pragathi Bhavan, the police used a tow vehicle to drag her car away after she refused to step out of the vehicle. The police intended to take her into preventive detention for causing disruption to traffic and public life. But with the chief of the fledgling party refusing to comply with the police orders, they towed her car away while she was inside the vehicle.
YS Sharmila was later shifted to the SR Nagar police station before the city police registered a case against her under three sections for creating a scene on the designated VIP route.
On Monday, YS Sharmila was detained in Narsampet town following an attack that turned violent. A few unidentified miscreants, while raising slogans against her, poured inflammable liquid on her bus and set it ablaze. Her car and a few other vehicles were also damaged in the incident.
The attack came in the wake of Sharmila's caustic remarks against the local legislators.
