HYDERABAD: Senior actor M Chandramohan passed away at the age of 82 on Saturday in Hyderabad. He breathed his last while he was under treatment for an age-related illness at a private hospital.

Family sources said that his body would be shifted to his home in Film Nagar and last rites would be held on Monday.

Mallampalli Chandramohan was born Pamidimukkala of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh on May 23, 1943. After completing BSc (Agri) at Bapatla Agricultural college he worked in Government service for a short time and joined movies. His first Telugu film was Rangula Ratnam.

He acted in hundreds of Telugu and Tamil movies. He won several awards including two Filmfare awards for his performance in Raghavendra Rao’s ‘Padaharella Vayasu’ and K Viswanath's ‘Siri Siri Muvva’. A close relative of K Viswanath, Chandramohan’s last move was Oxygen which released in 2017.

The veteran actor was survived by his wife Jalandhara and two daughters.

Meanwhile Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed grief over the passing away of veteran film star Chandra Mohan garu, who carved a niche for himself in numerous films working under great directors and production houses.

The Chief Minister conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in a condolence message expressed sorrow over the demise of versatile actor Chandramohan. He said that the Telugu cine field had lost a gem of an actor. He also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
